Subject: +AFs-kl+AF0- shipping horror story

+AD4- Anyone have any suggestions on where I could get some parts
+AD4-(specifically, posts) for a very old Buffet Bb clarinet? Francois Kloc
+AD4-suggested I send it to Paris, which I thought was an exceptionally
+AD4-generous offer to apply the Buffet policies to a truly obsolete
+AD4-instrument (a 1907 Albert). What followed was a classic +ACI-clarinet
+AD4-shipping horror story:+ACI- after I sent it, the Buffet people sent me a
+AD4-letter saying the package was sitting at Paris customs, where they
+AD4-needed more information about what the package was. Customs wanted to
+AD4-know exactly the information I had put on the customs card when I sent
+AD4-it, which seemed odd, but I thought perhaps it had been lost. Buffet's
+AD4-fax number, from their letterhead, was described to me as not in
+AD4-service, and they never answered my e-mails to them containing the
+AD4-requested information. Francois was at Clarinet Fest in Belgium about
+AD4-this time, and so he couldn't help me. I finally sat down to write a
+AD4-letter to Buffet asking what's going on (after a couple of months of
+AD4-worrying), and that very day the clarinet was returned to me, unopened,
+AD4-just as I had sent it, complete with the original customs information I
+AD4-had provided when I sent it. The very information they had requested
+AD4-had always been right there on the package.
+AD4- It really doesn't seem fair to expect Buffet to do work on every
+AD4-dilapidated old junker that gets thrown at them, so I don't feel that I
+AD4-was mistreated in any way, and I certainly think Francois was more than
+AD4-generous to make the offer, but I'm strongly disinclined to send this
+AD4-thing to Paris again. Thus, I'm looking for some suggestions on how to
+AD4-get some parts for it. I need several posts and rods (would you believe
+AD4-someone actually drilled them out at some point? But the wood is good,
+AD4-and it is otherwise in OK condition).
+AD4-

If you don't know of him, he builds clarinets - Eb-Bb-A-etc, and also
Bassetts
and extensions for Basses which are played by many name players.
He has also presented papers at ClarFest.
At the moment he is in Norway teaching his twice yearly course on clarinet
making,
and is due back at the end of the month.

He will do a perfect job.
