I can see that this may be the case in some situations and I applaud risk
takers.
But again where recordings are seen as the standard, the pressure to
reproduce a likeness can sometimes be intense. It is the habit of holding on
to a performance and not moving on that can sometimes be counter productive.
I once read an article about Kissin where it was excited by the fact that
going to his concerts was as good as listening to a CD because he never
makes mistakes. This reviewer has lost the plot completely!
