Well, yes, and you might add "AND if the moon is full, AND if you had
grapefruit for breakfast..."

I do use half hole for some instances - I don't think it's ever wise to
throw away a useful tool for pedagogical consistency. But most students
love the "trick" and over-use it, even where it's not appropriate.

I like your "voicing" exercise. Joe Allard had us do it in reverse -
start on the upper partial and slur down to the fundamental. We started
by overblowing open G and (tried) to continue all the way to E-B. Then we
went up to the next partial and did three notes.
