Just to set everyone straight, I've actually played the Lyons C clarinet in
the shower with the water running. When I bought it, Graham said it
wouldn't damage it in any way and I wanted to hear what it was like. It was
an enlightening experience.

I have a friend who has made pads for his bassoon out of silicone sealer
caulk, like you would use in the bathroom. He smoothes out a layer on a
sheet of glass and when it has cured, he cuts pads from it. He plays a
Heckel bassoon and the pads work very well, especially on the keys where he
has a water problem.
