Hey there -

During the spring, winds rehearsals go on for about 2-2.5 hours here at
NMSU, with Orch. rehearsals at 2.5 and opera rehearsals at 3+. You're
right, orch. and opera are far less strenuous. A nice trick is simply to
let the guy beside you play for a while, then give him a break. I don't
have to use this often, since I'm accustomed to 5+ hours of rehearsal a
day (on different instruemtns, typically) plus private practice as well.

It's just a matter of getting used to playing a lot. And continually
switching off between Bb and Eb clarinet and alto sax can really whup your
chops into shape, let me tell ya.

As for the complications concerning your G#/C# key, perhaps it has been
bent slightly, so that you haven't noticed it visually. It may not be
opening enough to tune the note correctly.
