This is something for you band folks out there! I have been playing in
both band and orchestra for a total of 10 years. I find that playing in
band is much more tiring to your chops then in orchestra, because we wind
players play more. Today, in rehearsal we worked on 1 piece for about 50
minutes or so, and my chops were already wearing me down. We did stop in
the middleto rehearse a little but still it wore us down. Then it was on
to English Folk Song Suite, which is not as bad as a The Thunderer, or
Thunders and Blazes or any other march, however I am playing the solo
first part.
After awhile my chops become poor, intonation becomes bad, etc.etc...
and this is not from a poor embrochure, either. We even stop to rehearse!
Anyway, how do you band players deal with this? I know I am not the only
one or am I?
