Cleaning the reed

There is one way I use for cleaning the reed.
I place the vamp of the reed between my thumb and forefinger.

Gently, I move the fingers on the reed in the direction of the tip.

After quite a few times I feel the saliva residue coming off.

I keep doing this until no more residue comes off.

There is no guarantee that this necessarily works.
I think that when you play, you get used to the saliva residue
accumulating on the reed.

However, it's worth a try.
