I've been playing for years and never heard of this half-hole technique in
reaching altissimo notes. Can somebody explain please? I've been managing
fine with all chromatic notes up to C (above the 5th leger line above the
stave - the one on the end of the Artie Shaw "Concerto") taking first finger
off for all but the B and C at the top. Does this technique make it easier
to hit the notes first time (a slight problem with the final C - or is there
an alternate fingering to Thumb, Register key, 1st finger LH, and 1st finger
and Eb/Ab key RH)?

Thanks
