Subj: [kl] A very pleasant day and lunch - thanks!

I'm only on briefly - just to let folks know that you have a very
interesting and articulate person on the list in Walter Grabner. Not only
that, he plays a mean bass clarinet and a meaner clarinet! The "it's just
crazy old me talking here" Walter you all know is a spy! He is actually a
very proficient, experienced teacher and performer of the clarinet who
actually happens to be equally talented with the computer. If we could
only all be that way!!

Walter did the mouthpiece thing with me today - showed me his work
(excellent!!!!) as well as demonstrating a new ligature he designed. I
also got to see his bass clarinet stand in action. Folks - if Walter ever
gets around to a patent and markets this stuff, he's on his way to
successland! The bass stand is far superior to anything I have seen - and
it is adaptable to young players also - you can play the horn in the stand
or just use it as a stand. It is fully adjustable and it is remarkable in
its simplicity. What a great idea!

After being treated to a nice lunch (we drove the '41 Chevrolet) I showed
Walter anything I could about my mouthpieces (not much actually - he
already knew it and was being polite I think) - and we talked listserver
politics - and he's back to Chicagoland.

If you need a bass stand or ligature - talk to Walter. While he may not be
mass producing them yet - he should be.

Sincerely,

Roger Garrett
