Ib Erikson: He played (in 1954) Carl Nielsen's
Clarinet Concerto as the composer intended -
with degrees of vigour, passion and ferocity,
unlike Louis Cahuzac (who recorded it in 1947)
who played it with urbane suavity - all very polite -
but with no Danish mud on his boots.
Carl Nielsen was not ashamed of his rural
or provincial roots any more than Elgar.
Ib Erikson's son is a flute player and conductor.
Lives in Copenhagen. I was able to speak
to him on the telephone a few years ago

Subject: [donax-m] not a lot of conversation

Someone asked about the mail from this group. Not much activity for now. Us
moderators are pretty nice. I have yet to reject a posting (well, there was
one spam that got through for a money scheme that I rejected), bit no
members postings yet to be kicked back. The lack of arguments is nice, but
lets have some dialog! :)
