First of all, I hope you mean play it **UP** a half step and lip it down
(if necessary). But a better plan is to come up with Peter Hadcock's book
of Eb excerpts, and check out some of his special fingerings for the
altissimo of the Eb clarinet. They really work.

Hadcock also provides a correctly transposed complete part for Eb
clarinet. Before this information gives Dan Leeson a coronary event, also
check out the Chicago/Barenboim recording - a few years old now. The word
is that John Bruce Yeh plays Till on a D clarinet. But good luck trying
to find one that plays in tune.
