Flattening the Pitch

One method that is easy to use: pull out the mouthpiece very slightly.

When you pull out the barrel, you create a cavity too close to the
speaker vent and the pitch could be off.

Pulling out the mouthpiece creates a cavity quite far from the speaker
vent.
This is almost equivalent to putting on a longer mouthpiece.

The cork on the mouthpiece has to be very tight in the upper part of the
barrel.

This is temporary. If you have time, look for a longer barrel or a
mouthpiece that will flatten the pitch.
