Angelica asked:
"Can anyone reccomend a good recording of Rossini's Introduction and
Variations for Clarinet and orchestra? I heard that on the radio the other
day and just fell in love with the magnificance of the piece. Thanx,
Angelica :-)
(aka Clarinet Goddess)"
Angelica,
I doubt that I am competent to judge a "good recording" of Rossini's
"Introduction, Theme and Variations". However, I am able to make you aware
that Sabine Meyer has at least two versions on offer viz.
1. EMI - CDZ 25 2335 2, compiled in 1990, and
2. EMI - 5 56137 2, recorded in 1996.
Both are Formula 1 versions, the earlier spanning 11m18s and the latter, 10m42s.
For a more sedate billy-cart derby pace, and I must admit, musically more
acceptable to my ears, you could try, the Emma Johnson version viz.
3. ASV CD DCA 559, spanning 14m46s.
Michael
