"Profile 88 refers only to the external contour of the mouthpiece not the
lay, table, tip opening or internal contour. In theory, at least, a
Vandoren B45 Profile 88 would have exactly the same specs as the standard
Vandoren B45. Some users would find a mouthpiece that has the back side of
the beak slimmer simply to be more comfortable. However the designation of
13 is entirely different from and independant of the Profile 88
designation."

I wouldn't doubt that one bit. My 5RV13 has the Profile 88 designation on
its side. AND, certainly has no meaning, beyond a model designation. After
some use, I would agree that it is VERY similar to the 5RV. I would also
agree that its going to eBay or the special drawer real soon. I was never
that fond of the 5RV, and the 5RV13 while a little more comfortable to play,
can't hold a stick to my Borbeck.
