Very interesting comments!

I believe that checking the basic pitch of a mouthpiece and the way it
facilitates or hinders good intonation is a basic and necessary part of
mouthpiece selection.

Next time you get a chance, check a batch of EXACTLY the same brand and
facing of mouthpiece. You will almost always find not only differences in
respomse and tone but also in tuning characteristics. The differences are
sometimes amazing.

Not all mouthpieces will tune to ANY established pitch. Selecting a
mouthpiece without a strobe or some other tuning device handy is simply
guessing blind.

First, decide on what pitch level you need to be at for the groups you play
with (hopefully A=440), THEN and only then select a mouthpiece that will get
you there.

who is maybe TOO attached to his tuner......
