Given that the instrument in question apparently bore no serial number,
can we be sure that it was made by Auguste Buffet? Did anyone else use his
name after his death and/or retirement, legitimately or otherwise? There
are plenty of precedents for that sort of thing - Lafleur, Holton (I
suppose), Noblet ....
