Whose embouchure is it anyway?

The recent mention of a certain NY embouchure reminded me of a story
with myself as a teenager.
A well known clarinetist came to our High school to play the first
movement of the Mozart quintet with the school quartet.
The next day, one of the students asked me, how I liked the clarinet
player.
I said, "When he played staccato, he did it with his throat".
The student then asked me "
Did it hurt the music?"
