Mark,

It is always encouraging to see a player take this kind of
dedicated approach to the Clarinet, even when they, like me
are presently playing at an amateur status. In another thread
someone spoke about just playing for fun. I do not know what
can be more fun than looking back and seeing the progress
that hard work has produced. When this progress is observed,
than that helps use to press on, even through the dry periods,
when we don't seem to be able to make any progress.

Do yourself a favor, and don't ever become "pleased with yourself",
because that is when the hard work will cease. Be encouraged about
your progress but always realize the more you learn, the more you will
understand that you don't know. If we become too satisfied with ourselves,
than that usually means we are not really listening.

It is also encouraging to hear a person say that they actually enjoy
having a teacher point out their weak points. Keep up the hard work
and enjoy the fruit.
