Most clarinet study books are equally good for bass clarinet. I've got a
really ancient book - the Otto Langey one - which works for me, and I've
also used the Uhl book. Nasty, but it works! Also, Bach cello suites are
excellent. Good luck!

Subject: Re: [donax-m] Clarinet choir vs. Clarinet quartet

I presume you are asking about a quartet with four clarinets. One of the
fun aspects of this arrangement is that there are many combinations of
instruments used. They include:

3 sopranos, bass
4 sopranos
Eb, 2 sopranos, bass
2 sopranos, alto, bass
Eb, soprano, alto, bass

The soprano is usually a Bb but I have several quartets that call for A
clarinet.

There is quite a bit of music for clarinet quartets and much of it is
original (not arrangements). I personally like the sound of a clarinet
quartet better than the sound of clarinet choir. While I am not sure I
can exactly put my finder on why, but I think it is because the lower
clarinets in a choir tend to sound "wheezy."

I know what a clarinet choir is, but what's in a clarinet quartet?
