Gary:

Amongst the choices would be:

Dr . Ron Howell, Professor at UCO in Edmond, OK
Patricia Pierce-Card, Professor at Oklahoma City University & also the
Principal Chair in the Oklahoma City Philharmonic.

I can also think of another possibility, a High School Band
Director/Symphony stand-in/Soloist in Edmond, OK.

It might have been David Blumberg who said regarding selection of a private
instructor ... "be prepared to travel as much as 1 1/2 hrs".

Edmond, OK is approx 30 minutes closer to Ponca City, OK.

Phillips University is now closed. I am not familiar with any teachers in
the OSU/Stillwater, OK area, although no doubt they exist.

Perhaps someone else will respond. Good luck.

RE: Ponca City Teacher?

"I have been offering some advice via email to a parent of high school
student in Ponca City Oklahoma. Her daughter is taking lessons from another
student, a situation that always makes me concerned. While I have advised
her to check with the band director about a qualified instructor, I thought
someone on the list might have some ideas. I am pretty sure they would like
someone nearby."
