That's too soft for an adult beginner. They already have more strength in
their embouchure muscles that elementary school students. They want to get
into the 2nd register (also known as clarion) fairly quickly and that 1 1/2
will probably play flat. That's probably a bit soft even for kids. My
daughter had no trouble starting on number 2 1/2 reeds at the age of 10.
