To which I query:

This would be odd indeed since Hal Linden is a stage name taken from a gig
in Linden, New Jersey (the town next to where I grew up). While I can't
remember the name he was born with, Hal Linden tells the story of how he
chose his name to anyone who will listen. It would be quite a coincidence
if Hal's brother Bernie chose the same stage name, but I suppose it's
possible.
