Terri,

You have already gotten some great advice from this list on starting
over with your clarinet, but I would like to add just one thing. On the
decision to "wait" until you practice to join a community band, just
jump right in. Speaking from experience I advise you to, NOT wait or
you may never think you are good enough. Community bands are use to
dealing with returning players. This is where you will gain much of
your forgotten ability and your self-confidence. Along with private
lessons and plenty of practice, your playing will progress faster than
than you think. Also, continue to read this list and research the
archives. There is a tremendous amount to be learned from those on this
list.

This is my 5th year in a community band, after 24 years in clarinet
retirement! I only regret I didn't do it sooner.
