One of the most helpful things Gigliotti would say to his students was "get
out of Philadelphia when you graduate, or you'll never play again."
WHAT'S THAT MEAN?

Meant that Phila. is a pretty dead town, and combined with a lot of
Clarinet players, theres almost no work to be had. He never said that to me
directly, but I have been told by several players that he says that to his
students.
Phila. is certainly no New York.
Now that I have had time to think on your original post, another area to
teach would be analyzing what other strengths that the students have (such
as a knack for Computer Programing - a job that many former performance
majors have, as the mind skills that are developed by music.).
