I played a benefit concert for the Jerusalem Shiva Hospital about three
years ago with a big band in Palm Springs. Hal Linden was the
headliner. He sang, did a great monologue, and played some fine
clarinet solos. I don't remember just what he played. The honoree that
night, by the way, was Larry King. The following year it was Gerald
Ford, with Eddie Fisher as headliner.
