Further to Rod Ellem's post regarding the RAAF Band Concert last Friday, I
would like to add that the Sunday Concert was also a delight, and a credit
to Rod's Commanding Officer and his Band colleagues.
The clarinet solo in Ticheli's "Blue Shades" was excellent, as was the brief
flute and oboe pairing. However, I admit a special admiration for the oboe
solo in the Vaughan William's Suite.
Being a long-time Wagner fan, the Band's rendition of an excerpt from
"Lohengrin" was my #1 choice on the programme.
Great concert Rod.
