April,

Also consider the "Polonaise from Mignon" by Ambroise Thomas arranged for
solo clarinet and band. The original Carl Fisher arrangement is still
available from the Detroit Concert Band in Scottsdale, Arizona. I first
heard it as a 7th grader in 1951 when it was performed by the solo
clarinetist accompanied by our high school's concert band. Thanks to
KLARINET member Terry Oxley who also knew the piece -- AND the Detroit
Concert Band -- forty-five years later I bought the full band arrangement and
read thru the piece with the Caltech/Occidental College Concert Band. There
is also a clarinet/piano version, also published by Carl Fisher, which I
performed at Glendale College last spring. I also suggest that if you
perform the work, get a recording of the full opera and listen to the aria
"Je Suis Titania" and also read the translation. It really helps the
interpretation.

Good Luck!
