I performed this piece a few years ago with a local comcert band, the
Highland Park (IL) Symphonic Winds.

Since it was an all-Russian concert, the conductor chose this piece.

In my humble opinion, this piece is BARELY worth performing.

There is so much GOOD literature, why bother with this piece.

Don't get get wrong, I admire the music of R-M. This piece, however, is NOT
his best effort. If you play this piece, you might as well go ahead and
perform the Sonata for Clarinet and Piano by Mendelssohn, that is in the
Masterworks for clarinet collection - Another Dog.
