With all due respect to the poster who suggested the Weber Concertino, I
must strongly disagree. I personally HATE to hear really trite renditions
of masterpieces. The orchestra part is so important to this piece and the
band arrangement sounds so LAME. It is a wonderful piece that should be
left to and orchestra in the name of musical beauty. However, there are
quite a few options which are originally for Piano and thus, have been
successfully arranged for band. One of my favorite pieces is the Messager
"Solo de Concours". Then there's the Bassi Rigoletto Concert Fantasy". I
did my own arrangement of the JeanJean "Au Claire de la Lune Variations".
For the lighter stuff, there is Ralph Hermann's "Clarinet On The Town" and
that wonderful chestnut, "Immer Kleiner". For the quite adventurous,
there's the Rossini "Intro, Theme and Variations" and the Mendelssohn
"Concertstucke" (for two clarinets/clarinet and bassethorn). These are but
a few good choices. A little creative digging should turn up dozens of
nice works.
