Klarinet Archive - Posting 000446.txt from 1999/09
From: Gary Truesdail <gtruesdail@-----.us> Subj: [kl] Bore Crud Date: Fri, 17 Sep 1999 10:30:36 -0400
Recently a posting was made regarding problems with the clarinet bore
changing dimentions because of a build up of mineral deposits. I didn't
pay attention at the time because I didn't need the info. Now I must
have a solution to this problem as my clarinet has been diagnosed with
the malady, to the tune of over 4 thousandths and I was told the barrel
had changed shape with the crud and is now egg shaped.
This problem is causing unpredictable response, intermittent difficulty
with tone control and intonation with any noted at the upper end of the
upper joint.
Any suggestions? If I cant fix it I will probably give up playing as I
no longer could recoup the cost of a new set of clarinets.
