I'm afraid the only two stands readily available in the country are the K&M
and Blayman Bass Clarinet/Bassoon stands. I'm sure there are some other
smaller makers and distributors that aren't widely known. I use the K&M
stand and it's well worth the money, especially for the portability. The
Blayman, as with all Blayman stands, is bulky and heavy and is more suitablt
for studio use.

Pardon me for changing the subject. First posting from a lurker...Today I
purchased a used bass clarinet (a Selmer, in decent shape, as far as I can
tell) and am really excited to be playing it after 34 years! I play in a
community band (have been playing the Bb for a few years) and will be the
only bass clarinetist, so I intend to practice hard to demonstrate the
beauty
of the instrument (well, maybe that won't be for awhile yet *chuckle*).
Anyway, I tried to get a stand for the bass and the Sam Ash store I went to
did not have one. I called Woodwind and Brasswind and the only 2 they had
for
the bass were $70 and $89. Having spent most of my extra money on the
instrument itself, I cannot afford those prices right now. Does anyone know
where I might start looking for a more reasonably priced stand, or do I have
any choice in the matter? Thanks for your attention. Back to lurking...
