By the way, Jim, I have really missed Roger Garrett's contributions to the
list. But it is marching band season and one of his responsibilities is the
Titan Marching Band, so he probably is simply very busy for the next two or
three months.
I especially would have liked to read his ideas on teaching the skill of
tonguing on the clarinet. I am saving nearly all the posts on this subject,
as it is an area I focus intensely on with my beginners. (This is due to
the fact that I played the clarinet for almost a YEAR before I learned how
to tongue!!! If I sounded testy in my long post of the other night, it is
because teaching beginners how to tongue effectively and communicating the
basics to them in a very simple, easily understood form is very near and
dear to me.) Thanks to Dee, Ed and all others who have posted on this so
far.
I am saving as much as I can, editing it , and compiling it into handouts
(that credit my sources, of course) for my students. (Not to mention
review material for myself) Thanks again to all of you.
Miss you, Roger Garrett. Now, to the archives!!!

Patty Smith
