Subj: [kl] noisy clarinet update
Date: Tue, 14 Sep 1999 22:53:15 -0400

I wrote about a freaky, metallic, ringing/buzzing noise that my clarinet
started making. I checked to see if the keys were vibrating against each
other or if there were any torn pads (my clarinet professor looked too) and
I couldn't find any (nor could he). It actually went away temporarily today
when I switched reeds and moved my ligature. Weird. I know it isnt the
ligature, though, because it has made that noise not only on my current
Eddie Daniels II, but also on a Luyben, Rovner, and Brancher. It's not the
reeds, I've switched from regular Vandys (3.5 and 4s), V12s, Marcas,
Vintages, and my current Vintage XLs. SO, I'm still lost as ever. We put a
little piece of tape underneath the little knobby thing that connects the
second ring on the bottom joint to the post (I'm sure there was a better way
of saying that), and it helped a little bit. If anybody else has any ideas,
I would be so grateful =o]
It rings mostly on the top line F and 4th line D.
Thanks ya'll!!
Wendy
