Dear List

i have been offered a pair of B&H Edgware wood clarinets, not in very =
good condition. The A clarinet needs rebores on the tenons, new tenon =
rings and corks. The Bb needs new corks and rings. Both need new springs =
and pads etc.

I have been quoted a price of =A3200 for an overhaul on the Bb and =
@-----. Since each clarinet would cost, secondhand, from the =
quoters of the overhaul price, =A3295, I estimate that they are worth =
@-----.

I would like to know if this is an unreasonable price for an overhaul. =
This includes recorking, cleaning, new pads and springs. The rebore and =
rings are extra. @-----.=20

If this is unreasonable, then what is an unreasonable price? The quoter =
is a major woodwind shop in Nottingham, UK who has a whole shed load of =
funky clarinets in a cabinet, and an Edgware Bb (secondhand) for @-----.

Please help, o oracle of mystic timbres (timbers?)
