Not completely true. Some people are very sensitive to silver plate. I
know flutists whose chins turn black playing silver flutes. They need to
have their lip plates gold-plated, or even use a nickel-plated flute!

Excellent point about chrome plating. Probably one of the biggest reasons
it is not more widely used.
