A seventeen piece dance and jazz band I play with recently had a gig
that was very posh. It was very important that we looked "uptown." The
director found a deal on tuxes. We paid for our own shirts = $10 each
and he popped for the tuxedos (with alterations) for $50 per man. The
guy selling us these uniforms even altered our shirts for the same total
price. Maybe they were slightly used (though they didn't look like it)
or maybe they were last year's style. I don't know, but there are deals
to be had out there, somewhere. Call around.

The comments about looking good are right on the money. Visual
impressions are very important!
