I own the clarinet Dan had chrome plated - a Buffet C clarinet. The
plating has indeed held up very well, and despite all the talk about how
slippery it would be, I've noticed no real problems. My Yamaha Bb and A
clarinets are silver plated, which is a very nice feel. My A clarinet is
14 years old, and the plating looks like new. I think the key to rapid
wear of plating is in the quality and thickness of the plating job.
