Earlier this year I went into a shop in Brisbane were they had on display a
wooden Artley with....(ready for this) gold plated keys. Acording to some
blurb I picked up it was suposedly a "professional model" and was made from
aged Grenadilla wood. They were asking...(ready for this)... $2799 for this
instrument. I couldn't believe it. Although I didn't play it I did play an
identical instrument at a music place in Melbourne only it was an Armstrong
( Correct me if I'm wrong but are they the same company?) and it played
exactly the same as my student's plastic student model Armstrong's (whom I
beg to get a better instrument!!). These 2 clarinets looked identical and
the blurb on both was the same. I wouldn't accept either brand instrument if
I won them in a raffle!!!! Mind you they looked fantastic especially with
the gold keys. Ideal for a lamp!
All the best
Rod.
