Rachael,
Is she having trouble "going over" the break, or playing above it all? In
other words, can she play, for example, 'F' (top line of the staff)? If so,
can she progress downward through 'E', 'D', 'C' 'B'? If she can't do any of
this and you can play easily on her clarinet, then the problem is less
likely to be a direct result of damage (repeating that _you_ can play the
instrument _easily_ - no special accommodations to make it play). If she can
do all of this but can't get up from 'A' or 'Bb' to 'B' or 'C' and she could
before, or if all the clarion notes come out for her except the last one or
two, then keep looking for a mechanical problem on the instrument or
something that was "bent back" to a place she can't reach as easily. You
might also let her try your clarinet to see if her problems persist with it.
Meanwhile, spend part of each lesson doing things that aren't frustrating
her. Good luck.
Karl
