How about a football helmet and drumsticks a la Mr Holland's Opus?
<]:o)
I STILL think my son learns all his rhythms by rote for every piece, and
his foot taps have NOTHING to do with the tempo of the music etc.
However, he CAN swing dance and march. He claims his marching band
experience was good for his rhythm...
He's now playing his second year in a college concert band.
