Jennifer,

I suggested removing the parts from the case because, yes, the warming process
would be faster. But it would only be a little faster and allowing the air to
circulate all around each piece would be more uniform. Allowing the parts to warm
to the temperature of the room would not be too drastic and would not be anything
like blowing into an extremely cold instrument. I don't think bass clarinets are
as likely to crack as soprano clarinets, but an ounce of prevention is always
worth a pound of cure.
