Subj: [kl] Selmer crystal mouthpiece

Greetings,

I am considering buying a Selmer crystal mouthpiece, #2. Can anyone tell
how it compares to other mouthpieces for ease of blowing, playability,
tone, etc.?

Thanks much,

Dave

Subject: Re: [donax-m] Care and Handling of Artist Grade Bass Clarinets

Richard Bush,

Thank you very much for this informative post. However, I have a few
questions. If you or anyone else on the list could respond, it would be
greatly appreciated.

Why do you say remove the instrument from the case? Wouldn't that make the
warming/cooling process faster, thereby making the instrument's
expansion/contraction less even? Or am I missing something in my logic?

AMEN. That was a pet peeve of mine as section leader last year. I would be
working with one of the section members and their instrument would start
gurgling. I would tell them to "slurp" the instrument out; i.e. Suck in
rapidly to clear it of moisture. They looked at me as if I was out of my mind
and absolutely disgusting. Not much swabbing went on when they put their
instruments away. Some even left their reeds on for months at a time.

Thanks,

Jennifer H. Jones
