Hm. As I am only an amateur who currently doesn't need to switch, this
doesn't happen to me. Perhaps you can change mouthpiece and barrel?
I always put mouthpiece and barrel together before I put the reed on
the mouthpiece. This gives more place to grip without having to hold
the whole clarinet.
