Richard,
Don McGinnis is a friend of mine and he gave me a couple of records of
his recently. I haven't listened to them yet - with moving to TX and
everything. One record is played half on a plastic Bundy and half on a top
line Selmer. I'll listen to it this weekend and report back to the list.
Don's an amazing guy. His main instruments were clarinet and flute. He
taught both at Ohio State and was the principal flute with the Columbus
Symphony for a couple of years. He also composed AND was director of bands
at OSU for quite a while.
When I go to visit Don I always allow a couple of hours because he is
always anxious to talk shop and has 1001 stories.
