ligatures? At 03:44 AM 8/26/1999 EDT, Georgette Calzati wrote:
I have run into trouble with clarinetists regarding their ligatures. Most
that my students use are either traditional or Rovner and are not made for
left handers. I have been able to reverse the screw successfully on the
Rovner ligatures for the lefties, but the standard ligature screws seem to
be able to go only one way and do not fit properly reversed. Any others
that may fit the bill. A standard ligature, placed on the mouthpiece like
an inverted ligature, will have the screws on the left side. Not the most
ideal solution, but the main other choice (besides your modified Rovners)
is to learn to use the right hand to tighten the ligature.

To me, this whole left, right handed thing is absurd! A musician had better
be coordinated in both hands - period. No coddling.... (btw, I am left
handed).
