This was in our morning paper on Wednesday:

Opera slap triggers real-life melodrama

CHICAGO (AP) - Opera buffs at a performance of Verdi's "La Traviata" got
more drama that they bargained for.
The crackling of a candy wrapper - irritating to the finely tuned ears
of one opera lover - brought a whispered complaint that was allegedly
answered by a slap on the back of the head.
That's when the police were called.
Now John E. Gaggini, 49, a tax atorney from suburban Oak Lawn, faces a
misdemeanor battery charge punishable by up to a year in prison.
The case is set for trial October 19. Both Gaggini and the alleged
victim, Alexander Weaver, who also is a lawyer, refused to discuss the
case following a recent hearing.
"The only thing I can tell you is that this is very unusual." said Susan
Mathieson, a spokeswoman for the Lyris Opera. "Slapping incident are
very, very rare amoung opera patrons."

Be careful what you say to people making irritating noises!
