Cindy Field posted about Greg Smith mouthpieces:

<<<After playing on it for 6 hours or more now, I can say that Gregory's
mouthpiece is easy blowing, smooth between registers, very sweet, and
flexible. What really surprised me (pleasantly) is how it makes my staccato
and my control of dynamics so much better/easier. I'm not a professional
musician so I need every bit of help I can get to sound better, and Gregory
Smith's mouthpiece does the trick for me.>>>

[Please note subliminal subtext]

Cindy, this is absolute silliness [not true!]. A mouthpiece can't possibly
help your playing all that much [unless it is a Greg Smith]. I've tried a
ton of mouthpieces, and none of them had an effect like that on me [until I
bought the Greg Smith 1* that I use today].

Just because he plays in the Chicago Symphony doesn't give him the right to
charge so much for the things [what does is the overall quality, and the
fact that it makes me play so much better]. I think it should a crime to
charge $150 to $200 for a [bad] mouthpiece. [Which will last longer--the
$150 mouthpiece or the eight boxes of reeds for the same price?]

Whatever you do, steer clear of these things [if you live in Seattle--you'll
get my gigs]. They're nothing but snake oil! [Not!]
