Before doing much with such a promising student (as are most, I believe)
read "The Inner Game of Tennis" or "The Inner Game of Music." The tennis
book is better, but I can't remember the author!! Most library directories
can find it by title though. This sounds crazy, but just do it, and as you
read it you'll start to see ways to apply the principles to teaching and
playing music. An excellent read that should be required of all music
students and teachers alike.
