Although my experience is much more limited than many on the list, I have not
heard of Dawson clarinets either. I wonder if this is a marketing ploy by
some second-rate company to attract teenagers who are so enamored of the
movie "Titanic." Remember that Jack Dawson was the "hero" in the movie. I
have read that people are leaving flowers on the grave of a Jack Dawson who
is buried in Nova Scotia, even though that Jack Dawson had nothing to do with
the fated ship. In any case, I would look for a nice Buffet, Leblanc, Selmer
or other "known" clarinet brand. Note: brand names listed are in alphabetical
order; no personal preference shown ;-)
