I started at clarinet at 9 because (now this is embarassing) my hands were
too small to play the flute! My pinkies couldn't quite reach the keys
properly, and although I produced a fairly nice tone when someone else held
the instrument for me, I just couldn't hold it myself.

-> Terri (who might be able to play the flute now -- anyone got an old
flute they want to sell? :) )
